How fast is CatNews?

Every story we pull from an official source gets two timestamps: when the company published it, and when we caught it. Then we look the same link up on Hacker News to see who got there first. No estimates — these numbers come straight from news.json.

    How we measure

    PublishedThe source's own timestamp: GitHub release time, Hugging Face upload time, or the date in the blog's feed or sitemap.
    CaughtWhen our newsroom first saw it. It checks every source every 5 minutes. Old stories found on our first look are never counted.
    Hacker NewsThe earliest HN post with the exact same link. If nobody has posted it yet, it shows as "not on HN yet".
